Dream?

a page from the journal of Chicane

Its been damn near a year since I posted anything here. But now I have to. About something that happened last weekend. It was wonderful and eerie all at the same time. First I have to ask: Have you ever dreamt something and then had it happen? A few days, a week, a month later? I'm not talking deja vu. This is a REM state dream that you remember when you wake. And then that scene plays out word for word... action for action. It used to happen to me all the time in middle school, but then stopped. It has happened a few times between then and now. But nothing like this.

The Dream

I'm sitting in a park. Its sunny. Hot. Unusually bright and I'm squinting through the sun. My friend is to my right and we're talking. About everything and nothing. And I look up into the blue sky and see the moon. Big, white, in mid day. And I think to myself, "Now you don't see that often. The moon, standing out much on such a bright day."

The dream fades and I awaken. It is permanently burned on my subconcious. Not because of the moon, but because of the company I was keeping.

The Day

Through some unusual (yet fortunate) circumstances I find myself sitting on a dock off a lake side park with a friend. The same friend. We're talking about everything and nothing. Just... conversation. The sun is out and its hot. You would never have guessed the day was going to turn out like this because the morning was overcast and wet. My sunglasses are on because its so bright. I'm even squinting with them on. The conversation goes into a lull and we're just sitting there taking it all in. My friend (who at this point I've told none of this to) points just above the horizon and tells me to take a look. The moon stood out large and bright just as it had in my dream. Its at that point I was hit with the realization that my dream had just come to fruition.

I was speechless at what just took place. In my mind I weighed whether or not to tell my friend my secret.. but before I could do anything my mouth opened and all the words came pouring out. I should've kept it to myself. Or waited for a more opportune time. Damned impulses.

Does this happen to other people? I don't expect anyone else to understand.
