BIAS

Mr. Goldberg is a liberal; not on all issues but on most. His contention is that news should only be slanted on commentary, not on reporting. His belief is that the network news slants to the left not because of an intentional conspiracy, but because they are so far left and have been there so long, they think they are middle of the road. He brings a compelling arguement to that premise. In 1996 he had submitted an op-ed to the Wall Street Jounal about a particularly biased piece written about Mr. Forbes who was running for president. Rather than take the criticism they so readily dish out, CBS attacked Goldberg. He eventually left CBS over it. While some may see sour grapes in the book, the information is compelling and I could visualize his expamples over and over again. Edna and I had always complained that the news people want to tell us what we think rather than report and and let us decide. Mr. Goldberg is not against bias if it is reported as such.
